Hugthecrayon is an Animator and Artist.
Other than being an Artist, I enjoy Chess and self teaching myself Japanese.
I knew about animation, obviously, through watching cartoons and movies.
But one day when I was watching a show called "Adventure Time" I got curious as to what actually goes into making an animated TV show. I learned about the creator Pendleton Ward, and watched how a show goes through writing, storyboarding, then actually animating the show. I consider Pendleton Ward as one of my biggest inspirations.
Another big Inspiration of mine was a very small animated content creator by the name of Scribble Netty. They made fan animated shorts for big Youtubers like Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, and GameGrumps. Then, when they were commissioned by Pewdiepie to animate a ”fan-fiction” story time video, it was the first time I learned about making money over the internet.
At just 13, I knew I wanted to learn Animation.
I started drawing on journal papers, and took art classes in middle school. Then in high school I decided to enroll at the Guthrie center. It's a career center in spring branch where students can choose a specific skill to develop for their future careers. I chose computer animation and continued to learn the program Maya for all of high school.
Skills I developed
-Script writing
-Story boarding
-3D modeling
-Character Design
-3D character Modeling
I decided it was best for me to move out after high school and take the time to see what life brings me.
I continued to do digital art, paint and sketch, while I learned how to pay bills and traveled.
Then when I was 22, I was working for a small restaurant business called Umbrella Fellas, LLC. My first month I was chatting with the owner while I was washing dishes, and I brought up my years experience with animating and he just went "can you animate something for me?! I'll pay ya!"
So, I made two short GIF like animations. Then got promoted to making their TikTok.
Making those animations made me feel so happy to see he loved them.
I made this website to showcase my portfolio.
